A reason to smile

If you need a trusted root canal dentist, look no further than Madderra Dental Spa. You know you need a root canal treatment when decay and infection affect the nerve of your tooth. The root canal is the cavity that occurs naturally at the center of your tooth. And inside it lies the nerves and the pulp (the tooth’s living tissue). Of course, the main aim of emergency root canal treatment is to save the tooth. For that, you need our expert root canal dentist who will take you through a simple root canal procedure. The procedure involves removing the pulp, nerves, bacteria, and any decay. Subsequently, we rebuild the tooth’s full function by filling the space with special, medicated, dental materials. Our services are available in and around San Francisco, CA.

We Can Perform An Emergency Root Canal

In most cases, we do emergency root canal treatment in cases of severe pain. Additionally, we carry out a root canal to save a tooth that will alternatively die and need removing. Contrary to popular belief, pulling a tooth that has problems is often not the best solution. If anything, it can cause serious problems for the adjacent teeth and be ultimately more costly.

So how do you tell if you are a candidate for a possible root canal therapy? Here are some of the signs and symptoms:

  • An abscess (or pimple) on the gums
  • Sensitivity to hot and cold temperatures
  • Severe toothache pain envelope
  • Swelling and/or tenderness

Sometimes no symptoms are present. You know you need root canal therapy when the decay reaches the tooth pulp, or there is an injury to the tooth. However, our emergency root canal treatment in San Francisco, CA, is highly successful. Moreover, it lasts a lifetime. Although, on occasion, we will have to retreat a tooth due to new infections.

THE ROOT CANAL PROCEDURE

A root canal procedure requires one or more appointments which can be performed by Dr. Madderra or one of our endodontists (root canal specialists). The root canal treatment is relatively straight forward. So with the tooth numb, we place a rubber dam around the tooth to keep it dry and free of saliva. Then, we make an access opening on top of the tooth. Subsequently, we place a series of root canal files into the opening, one at a time, removing the pulp, nerve tissue, and bacteria. Of course, if tooth decay is present, we remove it with special dental instruments.

Once the tooth is thoroughly clean, we seal it with a permanent filling. But if you need additional appointments, we place a temporary filling. Additionally, roots and the inside cavity of the tooth are filled and sealed with special dental materials. The root canal procedure is not complete until we place a filling to cover the opening on top of the tooth. Every tooth with a root canal treatment has a crown (cap). This protects the tooth, keeps it from breaking, and restores it to its full function.
